Buzz is a safe and fun creative social app for children. Created for the BBC from Chunk’s social platform, Spot, children can create videos, drawings, memes, lip syncs and overdubs and share them with friends and followers—all moderated by parents and the BBC.
BBC Buzz is a cross-platform app built with Ionic and the Angular framework. The majority of the codebase was written in Typescript, with HTML and SASS being used to build the various bespoke UI components required for the project.
Typical design patterns such as dependency injection, the observer pattern, singletons services etc were used throughout. Swagger was used to test the app’s various API end-points and to aid development of client-side providers.
